Hallo Gast [ Registrierung | Anmelden ]
DNS resolution takes a very long time

:4:with a web browser or wget:4:

Sometimes it happens that the DNS resolution takes a very long time. This probably is because of an entry in /etc/modprobe.d/aliases.

Become root.

Then go in the /etc/modprobe.d/ directory, where you will find the file aliases. Open KWrite (for example) and you will find there a quantity of entries, for instance
.....
.....
lias net-pf-3 ax25?
alias net-pf-4 ipx
alias net-pf-5 appletalk
alias net-pf-6 netrom
alias net-pf-7 bridge
alias net-pf-8 atm
alias net-pf-9 x25
alias net-pf-10 ipv6
alias net-pf-11 rose
alias net-pf-12 decnet
.......
........
It's the entry alias net-pf-10 ipv6 which interests us here! Substitute ipv6 here with off , save and done. It will then look like this:
.......
..,.....
lias net-pf-3 ax25?
alias net-pf-4 ipx
alias net-pf-5 appletalk
alias net-pf-6 netrom
alias net-pf-7 bridge
alias net-pf-8 atm
alias net-pf-9 x25
alias net-pf-10 off
alias net-pf-11 rose
alias net-pf-12 decnet
.......
